A Mountaintop Proposal
Casandra and Gerhard were together for seven years before he asked her to marry him whilst walking in the Clarens Mountains on New Year’s Day...
“Gerhard surprised me with a week away in Clarens, Free State over the New Year, as we’re both suckers for small towns.
“I had a few suspicions pop up about why we were going away but tried not to read too much into it. We spent the next few days exploring the town and the surrounding areas. We decided New Year’s Day would be the perfect time for a hike, and got up at 4.30am to see the sunrise, even though we’d been up celebrating the night before!
“The walk was beautiful! The hills were green and a magical mist covered the small lake below. We found a spot at the top of one of the mountains and proceeded to watch the most beautiful sunrise. Just as we were getting ready to leave for breakfast, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. The first word that came out of my mouth was ‘no’ but it was out of pure disbelief. After a few happy snaps we walked back down the mountain like two teenagers. We couldn’t be happier that we get to spend our lives together.”
A Christmas Eve Proposal
Devon surprised his wife Janine by proposing on Christmas Eve in front of both their families. You can read their real wedding story to find out more about their special day!
“It’s a Christmas Eve tradition in my family that one of the men dresses as Santa and hands out gifts at 12am. In 2013, it was Devon’s turn.
“The gifts were all handed out and ‘Santa’ left. The next thing I knew, Devon was on one knee in front of me asking me to marry him, whilst both our families looked on! We were married 11 months later.”
Proposing in Paris
As Stephane is French, he decided to propose to Yvonne in his favourite place in the world, in Paris...
“We decided on a trip to France for a month before Stef started a new job.
“Our first stop was Paris and a few days into the trip we decided to have a relaxing day outdoors reading books and eating cheese all day! The weather was divine and before long we found ourselves in a dreamy part of Paris that felt like it was miles away from anywhere. It was green, it was lush and it was rows and rows of trees.
“When I was getting ready to go exploring again I stood up and took another look around that little piece of heaven. I turned around to hurry Stephane up and when I did he was on bended knee, gorgeously perfect ring in hand and he asked me if I would be his wife. I laughed. Loudly. Everyone stared. I said yes and I cried. It was so romantic!
A Beach Proposal
Andrew proposed to Char on their two year anniversary with a creative beach proposal!
“We were going out for dinner on our two year anniversary, and decided to go to the beach as the sun set. There was no one else around, and Andrew picked up a shell and asked me to look at it.
“He turned it over and said, ‘There’s something in it’. It was a beautiful diamond ring! He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He’d had the ring hidden in the shell all day, and had actually bought it at home! He chose the ring himself and even rang my dad for permission — it was a perfect evening and a perfect proposal!”
A Proposal at Dinner
Lee asked Leanne to marry him at a romantic Valentine’s Day meal in front of her family.
“Lee told me we were going out for dinner, but then arranged for my sister to call me and ask us to change our plans so we could go for a family dinner. I asked Lee if that was ok, and he pretended to be a bit disappointed, but agreed.
“We all got dressed up and went for dinner in a private room at a gorgeous restaurant. The waitress came in with a platter of food, which she put in front of me. On the platter was a heart shaped diamond ring!
“Lee got down on one knee in front of everyone and asked me to marry him! Then we all had champagne and a delicious dinner to celebrate.”
