Made by Stefni Radford, black silk ribbon bookmarks with a crystal on the end were left on the tables and used as place names, as well as being a favour for guests to take home. Guests were gifted with a Belgian chocolate from Ariba Chocolates, presented in a bag which said “thank you for sharing this day with us”. Rather than having a post box, Gillian handmade a wooden wishing well in which guests could drop loose change or money to donate to the couple’s emigrating fund.
With the wedding breakfast complete, the speeches commenced. Gillian’s mother gave a memorable speech, welcoming Paul into the family and holding a moments silence in honour of the father of the bride who had sadly passed away.
