If you are looking for a location at which to get married abroad that is a melting pot of culture, stunning scenery and incredibly friendly people, then why not consider Sri Lanka. Located at the toe of India, this tropical island boasts mystical ancient cities, tea plantations, thick jungles, and miles of palm edged sandy beaches. It's also a place where you can immerse yourself in the culture and include it in your wedding. Imagine riding to your ceremony on the back of an elephant accompanied by dancers and drummers, or how about getting married on a secluded sun drenched beach, or what about a stunning hotel resort with an al fresco setting with a commanding view across the rolling hills. Weddings abroad in Sri Lanka offer all this and more besides and whatever you choose, your special day will remain in your heart for a very long time.
A couple will need to send their wedding documentation at least two months before the intended date of their marriage. They will need to have proof that they are single, copies of their birth certificates, details of their full names, addresses and occupations, together with the same information for both sets of parents, and an affidavit confirming their marital status. If they have been divorced or widowed then the relevant certificates to prove this need to be sent. They also need to arrive on the island, with their original documents, at least 5 days before the wedding.
