Getting Married in Slovenia

If you're looking for a spectacular and stunning European destination in which to get married then why not consider Slovenia. Marriage Requirements


Only civil weddings are recognised as legally binding in Slovenia but this can be accompanied by a religious ceremony too. A couple needs to register their marriage with the Administrative uni of the Registry Office of where they want to get married. This can be done six months in advanc but no later than 14 days before the intended wedding date. Documents needed are valid passports, birth certificates, together with certificates of non impediment. If they have been divorced or widowed, then certificates to this effect are also needed. All documents must be translated into Slovene and notarised. Once these documents have been submitted a marriage date can be settled. The marriage certificate is issued after the ceremony.
