Getting Married in Mexico

If you are looking for a real diverse backdrop to your wedding, then you might want to consider weddings abroad in Mexico. Marriage Requirements


The only way to get married legally here is to have a civil wedding. Religious ceremonies are possible but they are not legally binding. Foreigners are not subject to any residency requirements, but will have to validate proof of ID. This can be done with a passport, driving licence, tourist visas and of course a birth certificate. Blood tests are required in all states and have to be taken at least 3 days before the ceremony. In some states Thorax x-ray plates are required also. All civil weddings require between 2-4 witnesses over the age of 18. Licences can be applied for in any number of oficina del registro's  throughout the country.
