If you're looking for a somewhat unique European destination in which to get married, then why not consider Malta. Located in the Mediterranean just south of Sicily, this tiny island has a wealth of history waiting to explore together with stunning scenery under blue skies. Whether you want to get married in church or in a splendid palazzo surrounded by medieval fortifications, then weddings abroad in Malta can satisfy all of your requirements. The island also has beautiful gardens, beach side resorts, and stunning villas with spectacular sea views in which to host your reception.
Malta is a very easy place in which to get married and most of the paperwork can be done from home. A couple must request the publication of wedding banns at the Registry Office in Valletta no later than 6 weeks before intended wedding date and no more than 3 months before. The documents they will need are full birth certificates, a completed freedom to marry form (RZ2), certificate of no-impediment, and copies of their passports. The Licence to marry will be issued by the Registry Office 10 days before the wedding date and can be collected on arrival. The Marriage Certificate is given immediately after the ceremony has taken place. For more information visit http://www.weddings-abroad-guide.com/legal-requirements-for-getting-married-in-malta.html
