To get married in Malaysia both persons must give notification to the 'office of the registrar of marriages' in the district that you want to hold your ceremony. Before this you have to take up residence within the said district for a minimum of seven days. Notices will then be placed on the notice board for a period of twenty one days up to a maximum of three months. Your marriage licence can be issued after a term of twenty one days and is valid for 6 months. Documentation needed is: (1) Passport along with a copy of the data of your entry into Malaysia (2) A Standard Malaysian sized coloured passport photograph.(3) Application form Borang JPN KCO1 ( This can also be obtained from the office of the registrar of marriages) (4) An Affidavit of your marriage status.
