If you're looking for an exciting and vibrant tropical island on which to hold your wedding then perhaps you should consider Jamaica. Yes, it has the lure of white sandy beaches and blue sunny skies, but it is also rich in culture and has stunning landscapes and spectacular architecture. With old plantations houses, exotic gardens and tropical rainforests to exchange your vows, or even traditional churches or a secluded beach, it's not hard to see why so many couples are choosing weddings abroad in Jamaica. With fabulous hotel resorts or grand houses, able to help host your reception, your special day will be truly unforgettable.
Getting married in Jamaica is easy and all you need have with you is your birth certificate showing your father's name and a completed wedding application form. You can pick up a form of declaration and a licence form from the Ministry of Justice and these then have to be taken to the Stamp Duty and Transfer Tax Department where you'll need to pay a fee of JM$4,000. A Justice of the Peace needs to sign your form of declaration which proves your marital status and then all the documents are returned to the Ministry of Justice again. If you've been married before or are widowed, they'll need to see the necessary documentation. The licence is usually ready to be collected within 3 hours and is valid for 3 months.
