If you're looking to get married in a destination which has a dramatic landscape as well as plenty of culture, then why not consider Iceland. Located in the mid Atlantic Ocean, this large island is widely covered with incredible waterfalls and glaciers, yet also boasts some of the best nightlife in Europe. With plenty of small chapels, quaint churches or hotel resorts in which to get married, weddings abroad in Iceland are growing in popularity. Iceland also has plenty of stunning venues with spectacular views in which to host a reception or celebratory party.
Couples wishing to get married in Iceland need to send copies of their documents 2 weeks before their intended wedding date. They can send copies by fax and then the originals need to be received no later than 5 days before the wedding date. Couples must be over 18 and they will need the following documents. Proof that they are both legally staying on the island (residency permit, passport stamp or air ticket), birth certificates, form of no impediment signed by both of them and 2 reputable witnesses, certificate of marital status, divorce/death papers (if applicable).
