If you're looking for a European destination at which to get married that has a stunning coastline, gorgeous beaches, historical sights and great nightlife, then why not consider the island of Cyprus. Named the “Island of Love” Cyprus has a wide choice of venues in which to exchange your vows, including 5 star hotel resorts, yachts, and even golf clubs besides traditional churches. If you're considering weddings abroad in Cyprus you'll also find plenty of stunning venues in which to host your reception as well as a myriad of adventures for a honeymoon here as well.
The wedding application must be made in person to the Marriage Officer of your chosen region. You can get married after 3 clear working days spent on the island by applying for a Special Licence or you can wait until you have been on the island for more than 15 working days and obtain an ordinary marriage licence. The documents you require are a valid 10 year passport with at least 6 months remaining on it, full birth certificates, affidavits to state that you are both free to marry, Notice of Marriage and a baptism certificate (if getting married in church). If you are a divorcee or widower you will need to provide the relevant papers. The cost of the marriage licence is €282. Catholic weddings are only legal if the couple have had a civil ceremony first and cost €600 including the service of the priest. Anglican weddings cost €630 including a “Form B” and services of the priest. To learn more visit http://www.ucm.org.cy/ENG/civil_marriages.htm
