If you're big on flowers you might want to think about incorporating flowers throughout your wedding theme. Flowers conjure up happy thoughts of summer or winter and are also symbolic in meaning. Here's a few ways you might include flowers in your big day:

Floral cake

Flowers for the dresses

You might choose a wedding gown that features small flower detailing either by means of embroidery or small crafted flowers stitched on to the body of the dress. Another way to utilise flowers is to choose a floral pattern for the bridesmaids dresses. Small children look really cute in floral dresses with full, gathered skirts and a contrasting sash whereas grown up bridesmaids would probably look better in a plain, elegant dress which picks out one of the colours from the floral dresses.

Floral Table Settings

Floral table settings can be used to add a splash of colour to a table covered with a plain white linen cloth. The African Queen Lily, native to South Africa and also known as the Agapanthus is a stunning flower to use in a centre piece with its large ball like cluster of flowers on a long stem. If you choose the blue variety, you've also got your “something blue” for the wedding. They're also a flower that doesn't wilt in the heat and make a gorgeous flower for bridesmaids to carry as just one stem.

Flowers on the stationery

Once you've decided on which flowers to use in your theme you can easily incorporate it into your wedding stationery. A single Agapanthus or Rose could feature on your invitations, as well as place settings and thank you cards.

Table names

Whilst on the subject of flowers, you could also name your guest tables with different names of flowers such as Gardenia, Gerbera, Freesia, Carnation etc.

Flowers on the wedding cake

Fresh flowers look sensational on top of a wedding cake but certain flowers are poisonous so be careful which you choose to use. Your florist should be able to assist. Alternatively, sugar paste flowers look extremely pretty and can be made in a shade to match the real thing.

Wedding favours

Getting married is all about beginning a new life together and the growing of seeds is also about a new life. With this thought in mind your wedding favours could be packets of flower seeds for your guests  to grow in their gardens.
