What is the inspiration behind your 2013 collection?
The new collection is inspired by spring and is lively and fresh. It features meticulously crafted petals and blossoms, laid over soft tulles and the finest silk chiffons. Imported French Chantilly lace details provide accents, emphasizing the bride’s shoulders and back. The lace motif is continued with delicate cap sleeves and covered buttons, adding a demure elegance. These beautiful gowns are embellished with light and airy trims, including fine beadwork, pearls, crystals, diamanté, and soft bows in the waist.
In homage to the 1950s “Golden Age” of couture, the collection will also feature a peplum dress, as well as one of the season’s hottest trends: the illusion neckline. This gorgeous vintage touch adds a subtle sensuality, hinting at being revealing without baring too much skin.
Figures are classic, incorporating both traditional and modern silhouettes. This season incorporates some shorter gowns and even convertible dresses, which can quickly transform from formal bridal wear to something more fun for the reception.
What wedding dress trends do you predict for 2014 brides?
The most important trend for 2014 is low back and interesting back details. Illusion necklines and backs are huge and is what most brides are asking for. Long sleeves, mostly in lace is also something to look out for. Bodices in corset styles with underwire and cups bring a sexy twist to the 2014 trends.
What advice would you give to brides searching for their perfect dress?
Try on all the different shapes and styles, even if you think it will not suit you. You might be surprised.
Make sure that dress fits in with type of wedding that you are having. Remember to keep is simple. Rather use more expensive fabrics and have less detail.
Do you have a favourite design from your collection?
No, I love all the dresses.
Is there a celebrity whose wedding dress you would love to design?
I would love to design a dress for Taylor Swift. I love her personal style. It is very feminine and is reminiscent of my designs.
