This month we have been speaking about up and coming wedding trends with Alex from The Wedding Boutique – a gorgeous store that offers an intimate and boutique feel for brides with an aim to offer quality and value.
Alex has highlighted 5 key wedding trends of the moment and shown how each bride can wear these trends.
The natural waist is one of my very favourite trends for 2012 / 2013. This style of wedding dress really accentuates a women’s natural waist…and would suit most women. But if you have large hips or thighs this would be a particularly good shape for you and all the lumps and bumps are hidden underneath the full skirt.
This look is feminine, magical, soft and just plain pretty! I would say a modern take on the old ball gown.
The peplum (two tiered skirt) is ALL over the catwalks at the moment. This is a very sophisticated, structured look. The clean lines make for one very glamorous bride. This would suit a bride who is getting married over winter or perhaps in a very contemporary hotel.
If the peplum is a little bit too ‘out there’ for you, I would suggest the softer ‘tiered’ or ‘layered’ look. A structured bodice coupled with layers of lace, tulle, organza and chiffon make for one very vintage, soft, beautiful bride.
Detailed or Low Back
A very low or incredibly detailed back (think lace, beading, straps, bows, ruffles and flowers) is one of the latest 2012/ 2013 wedding dress trends. Your back will be one of the focal points for most of the ceremony, so why not show it off? This trend will suit any bride, but particularly those brides with a large bust who need the support of straps, or a bride who really wants to show off her beautifully sculptured back!
Bling and Sparkle
The 2013 Spring Catwalks were adorned gorgeous embellished gowns. Nothing quite says ‘wow!’ like a wedding dress which has been embellished with Swarovski crystals, sequins, handmade petals and anything shiny you can ever think of.
This look is definitely for the glamorous bride, a bride who realizes this is her one day to stand out from the rest and to shine!
A Touch of Colour
A new, fun spin on the traditional wedding dress is having a dress which has hues of soft pinks, peaches, reds and any other warm, soft colour. As we move away from very traditional weddings, nothing says ‘modern bride’ quite like a wedding dress which is not white!
This look is also great for women who do not look their best in white or cream. And it is perfect for a second marriage.
