Best Man Speeches
The best man’s speech is one of the most anticipated speeches of the day – as well as having a sense of emotion and sentimentality; you also need the added element of light hearted humour. When it comes to writing your best man speech, start by introducing yourself to the room so all the guests know who you are and your relationship with the bride and groom.
Father of the Bride Speeches
The father of the bride speech is one of the most emotional speeches of the day. You may want to say a few words about your daughter growing up and how proud you are, followed by some details of when you first met the groom. The speech traditionally ends with a toast and wishing the newlyweds and long and happy life together.
The groom’s speech traditionally starts by thanking the guests for their love and support. It is also a time to share some of your thoughts and feelings about your bride and the new life you are able to start together. The speech typically finishes by thanking the groomsmen and the bridesmaids and perhaps giving them a small gift to say thank you.
Although not a tradition, more and more brides are getting up to say a few words at their wedding reception. You may wish to say a few thank yous to those who have offered you emotional support and also to talk about the new life you are about to embark on with your husband.
