New Orleans offers the honeymoon couple a real diversity of things to see and do. The French quarter is the historical heart of the city, whilst Bourbon Street is the party epicentre. New Orleans has some of the finest seafood restaurants in North America and of course a trip to New Orleans wouldn't be complete without witnessing the Mardi Gras. With its sub tropical climate, the people aren't the only thing that's warm here. Even in the winter months, temperatures rarely drop below the low seventies during the day. Getting here from South Africa is relatively easy and with flights from all airports, via Atlanta, you could be here in less than 20 hours. If you fancy partying on down, then you've come to the right place. The world famous Mardi Gras takes place here every year between February and March and is a sight to behold. Bourbon Street offers a whole host of bars with jazz music, steaming hot bowls of Gumbo and cocktails that goes on well into the wee small hours. If it's something a little more serene, then how about a walk around the historic French quarter, where you will find, museums, art galleries and boutique stores. Or for something a little different, then take a trip down the Mississippi in an authentic river boat and step back in time.
