Overview of Honeymoons in Mauritius

If you're looking for a romantic idyll on which to spend time with your loved one, then Mauritius could be the perfect honeymoon location for you. Whether it's mountains you want to trek or stunning beaches to laze around on, then Mauritius can supply both. There's also some fascinating culture and heritage to enjoy with lots of interesting attractions to visit.

Mauritius provides a great mix of relaxation and adventure and there is plenty to see and do. With easy flights from South Africa you could be strolling round the capital, Port Louis in around 6 hours. This is an interesting city as there are lots of remnants of its colonial past to see. La Citadelle is an interesting fortification to visit and you get a superb view of the rest of the city's architecture. Whilst you're in Port Louis you could always go to a horse race at the Port Louis racecourse, which is the oldest race course in the Indian Ocean. The longest village in Mauritius, the Triolet Shivala is also worth visiting and here you can see the temple of Maheshwarnath which is dedicated to several Gods, including Krishna, Brahma and Vishnu. Whilst you're in the northern region you could hike or take a bike round some of the stunning mountain scenery. To cool off, in the inland region, it's very refreshing to visit the Tamarind Falls where there's not one but seven waterfalls surrounded by lush green mountains. You can splash around in the pools at the foot of the falls. However you spend your time, a honeymoon in Mauritius will be truly memorable.
